Our progress-- concrete jungles...

OUR PROGRESS--CONCRETE JUNGLES
A POEM BY DR. RAM SHARMA , MEERUT, INDIA
Cool serene breeze of river
amidst the orchards of mango and guava
we used to live in nature joyfully
There was greenary and chirping of birds all around
But we have made concrete structures all around
no orchards , no greenary , no birds all around
we are in a cage of airconditioners and alone
No sociality - no time
We forgot the songs and rituals
now only noise remains
Where are the wells
where they used to quench the thirst with love
now water has become bottled to be selled
We just want our own progress not of other self
crying full throated about self
Where has that nature gone
is it our progress --our concrete jungles
